Description

Sometimes users encounter some problems with the camera. For example, the IP and the port of the camera on Smart Tools is displayed as 0, the status of the camera automatically becomes inactive, the camera automatically restarts repeatedly, the camera configuration is cleared, and the IP camera cannot be found by Smart Tools. Most of these problems can be caused by camera database exception.

Issue

1. The IP and the port of the camera on Smart Tools is displayed as 0.

2. The status of the camera automatically becomes inactive.

3. The IP camera cannot be found by Smart Tools.

4. The camera automatically restarts repeatedly.

5. The camera configuration is cleared.

1.The IP and the port of the camera on Smart Tools is displayed as 0.

The camera suddenly becomes inactive. If you use Smart Tools to check the camera, you can find that the IP address and port number are abnormal and 0 is displayed. Ping the camera's default address 192.168.5.190 from the computer doesn't work either.

2.The status of the camera automatically becomes inactive.

The camera often automatically resets to the inactive state and needs to be reactivated before it can be used normally, but it may automatically reset to the inactive state again after some time.

3.The IP camera cannot be found by Smart Tools.

The camera can be powered on normally (you can hear the "click" sound and see the IR LED flash when it is powered on), but the camera cannot be found by Smart Tools. If you encounter this problem, you can first check whether it is caused by the environment of the site or network equipment(like network cable, switch, switch port and so on) abnormality through this document. [IP Camera-Connection&Login] IP Camera cannot be found by Smart Tools.doc

If it is confirmed that it is not caused by network equipment, it may be caused by the camera’s database exception.

4.The camera automatically restarts repeatedly.

If you can hear a "click" sound from time to time and see the IR LED flashing, and sometimes you can search for this camera on Smart Tools, but sometimes you can't, or it’s possible that you won’t be able to find this camera on Smart Tools at all, it means that the camera may be rebooting frequently.

5.The camera configuration is cleared.

If you encounter the following problems:

1. After the camera restarts, the camera configuration is cleared and return to the default configuration.

2.The camera is added to the NVR through the NVR PoE port, the camera configuration is cleared and return to the default configuration after the camera is restarted or the NVR is restarted.

These may also be due to the camera’s database exception.

Solution

The above problems may be caused by database exception or flash bad blocks issue. If you encounter these problems, try the following solutions:

1. Do a hardware reset for the camera. On how to do a hardware reset on the camera, you can refer to the following steps, or refer to this document: Milesight-Troubleshooting-Hardware Reset.pdf

2. If the camera can return to normal for a period of time after the hardware reset, please immediately upgrade the camera to the latest database optimization firmware version. You can download the corresponding version from our website and upgrade.

3. If the problem persists after doing the hardware reset, then please contact your local agent or Milesight support: support@milesight.com, and inform the main problems encountered. If you can  access the camera web page at this time, please export the diagnostic information as much as possible and send it as an email attachment.
