RTSP (Real-Time Streaming Protocol) is a network control protocol used to control streaming media servers in entertainment and communications systems. It allows clients to control media stream playback (e.g., play, pause, and stop) and supports real-time audio and video streaming. RTSP is commonly used in network cameras, media servers, and video conferencing systems.
This document aims to show the configuration method of RTSP stream and the URLs used by camera, NVR and VMS for audio and video streaming via RTSP, for the convenience of product usage and configuration.

Note:
IP: The IP address of camera.
The default RTSP port is 554.
RTSP port valid range is 1~65535.
The RTSP URL for Primary Stream and Secondary Stream of Fisheye camera is optional when transfer mode is bundle-stream mode.
The RTSP port needs to be mapped when enabling port mapping.
3.2NVR RTSP URL

The RTSP format of Milesight NVR is “rtsp://IP:RTSP port/ch_xxx”. IP: The IP address of NVR; RTSP port: The default RTSP port is 554; ch_xxx: The first number of xxx represents stream type, 1 for main stream and 4 for sub stream. The last two represents channel number, which start from '00’ (‘00’ means channel 1). Take ‘rtsp://192.168.8.179:554/ch_402’ as an example: The IP address of NVR is 192.168.8.179. The RTSP port is 554. The stream type is sub stream. The channel number is 3. |
3.3VMS Enterprise RTSP URL

The RTSP format of Milesight VMS is “rtsp://{User}:{Pwd}@{Server_IP}:8092/live/{Device_ID}/{Channel_ID}/{Stream_Type}” User/Pwd: the username and password for logging into the VMS system. Server_IP: IP address of any online server in the system. (the Server not owned by the camera also supports streaming) Device_ID: Device ID, the decimal form of the MAC address of the camera. You need to manually convert the hexadecimal MAC address to decimal. Channel_ID: The channel ID of a device. The value is 0 for a single-channel device. The ChID of a multi-channel device which includes fisheye camera, AI Dual-sensor Camera, TrafficX camera and AI Multi-directional Camera is by parity of reasoning. Stream_Type: 1- primary stream, 2- secondary stream. Take ‘rtsp://Jasper:gza1114gza104@192.168.69.14:8092/live/31624218630288/0/1’ as an example: The username is Jasper. The password is gza1114gza104. The Server IP is 192.168.69.14. The Device ID in decimal form is 31624218630288. The camera is a single-channel device, the channel ID is 0. The stream type is primary stream. |
